...and the coat...

The second part of the mother of the bride outfit...a coat of pure silk dupion with a princess line styling and a patterned silk lining. The scalloped cuff and the bow trims gave it a really individual look.

Custom make...

This outfit was a custom make for a Mother of the Bride winter wedding. The customer was a larger lady and had a very definite idea on her design and colour scheme..she brought her fabrics to me...another learning curve as it was quite a challenge to put a stretchy, heavy lace overlay over a lightweight slippery silky fabric! Unfortunately the biggest dress form I have was still several sizes too small even at it's largest, so she needed more fittings than usual (and it actually looked nicer on her than in these photos). She was pleased with the end result, though it's not one I would want to repeat in a hurry!
